Fashion has developed to the extent that any newly evolving shape of a garment created by the movement of the wearer's body can be seen as a design I am attempting to provide a different perspective within fashion and art. This I describe as fashion practice . Through a combination of film, live performance and photography I communicate ideas around contemporary fashion. My fascination for repetitive movements or recurrent situations in daily life led me to develop the term "Infinite Repetition". This has become a kind of leitmotif for me in that my work represents continuing cycles with no end. The routine of getting dressed and undressed, which everyone performs at least once a day, particularly interests me. A further key element in my work is the relationship of the self, body and clothing. The ambivalent and interacting liaison of body and clothing is a direct translation of the self. Furthermore, it can give direct access to our deepest feelings and even construct the individual self. |
